I contacted the US Embassy of Costa Rica asking if there were any speaking opportunities for me to give college advice to high schoolers during my time in Costa Rica. They put me in contact with Melissa Monge and her organization, Ideas and Accion, and they invited me to their “Girls in Coding and Entrepreneurship” session. I didn’t get to speak but I loved what they did. They taught girls to code and how to think like an entrepreneur. They also do entrepreneurship sessions for everyone and even run TEDxPuraVidaJovenes. I’ve taught kids how to code through Tech 101 4 Kids and I am constantly giving college and entrepreneurship advice so I felt right at home.

We talked about how her skills working in communication and public relations helped her be so collaborative with others and thrive in her industry. Ideas en Accion has partnered with many organizations and odne many cool events to help the youth of Costa Rica, like girls in coding camps and TEDxPuraVidaJovenes. I really enjoyed our conversation, I also talked to Monica who was the other co-founder and Skye Picker who’s interning there over the summer from Stanford.
