For our third year in a row, Tech 101 Kids attended Super Science Saturday a few Saturdays ago. Just as every other year it was a huge success and it only grew from the year before. We were super lucky to be able to score a spot right in front of the main entrance granting us with an endless flow of viewers. Although it was a little overwhelming at first it was a blast once we got everything under control.

We decided to go all out as we were provided with multiple tables permitting us to bring and set up everything. We had out Makey Makey Piano using cucumbers this time along with Flabby Physics right next to it. We had out two LEGO Mindstorms creations – the Rapt3r and MindCub3r – providing tons of entertainment. We had the Piper Computer Kit to teach the importance of circuits. We also had the Notecard Spinning Machine which seems to be a bigger and bigger hit with all the kids every year. Joseph decided to bring all his inventions from his boat to his homemade phone charger and his racecars. He also presented the Meccanoid and did a fantastic job at that.

Thankfully there were a few times the crowd died down enough for me to be able to go and check out all Super Science Saturday had to offer. I managed to see the Rube Goldberg Machines they were working on upstairs, the animal petting zoo, the creation of flubber, the liquid nitrogen roses, the periodic table puzzle, the pulley system, and much much more. Some of the highlights for me were the Silent Fliers flying around the drones, getting my hands dirty by making flubber, The Great Annual Paper Airplane Race, The Egg Drop, and the Rocket Launch. My favorite out of all of them would have to be the Airplane Race. The single moment when all the paper airplanes are thrown and are in the air is truly something to behold.

All in all this year can definitely be considered a successful year and we can’t wait for Super Science 2019.
